I have a pal in the bicycle industry and he tells me that soon technologies to manufacture a rear bicycle derailleur will be lost since Shimano and Sram are going to cableless Bluetooth enabled electronic derailleur systems, super expensive and really high tech and light weight. He is trying to manufacture a rear derailleur in America, but has mostly given up on the project. He tells me their are entire factories and skilled labour and engineering sitting idol in China right now so, he has hired top engineers and skilled workers to make an old school friction shifting bicycle rear derailleur.
It will be cheap and super high quality. But the big players don’t want cheap and high quality and factories sit idol in China because of Shimano and Sram.
This type of thing is happening in every industry. Only rich folks will own even a simple bicycle.
